Hi! For those who first read my post, I’m Vincent, a finance student at the University of Macau. In this post, I will share my experience of using Tableau. Here is my link to my Tableau Public profile. (You can watch my vizzes~)

Until now, I had accumulated approximately 10 months of user experience with Tableau. Well, though it’s not easy to maintain learning Tableau while I need to pursue my own undergraduate study too, I still make it.

For those who first heard of Tableau, here is a brief introduction:

Tableau is a powerful data visualization tool in which you can connect any kind of data source and database. Most importantly, it is friendly to use for the beginner. It can produce high-quality data visualization with different charts in just a few clicks. In 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence, Tableau is classified as the leader in the industry.

Tableau has two types of version: (1) Tableau Public; (2) Tableau Desktop.

For Tableau Public, it is totally free for any user. On the contrary, Tableau Desktop needs to pay for a subscription but you can connect to more data and use other functions that are limited in Tableau Public.

For students, here is your good news. Tableau offers a free one-year Tableau license at accredited academic institutions. You just need to fill the form to confirm your eligibility and unlock your new free license. (Here is the link for your reference.)

If your student license has expired, don’t worry! You just need to extend or renew your Tableau student license, simply re-submit this Tableau for Students form to verify you’re still enrolled.

So what you’re waiting for? Come and join our big community~
